Is your cat pregnant? or maybe you are unsure if she is or not... here are a few signs of cat pregnancy and helpful information on how to care for your pregnant cat.

You won't notice any signs of pregnancy until about 3 weeks, then they are hard to miss. They become a bit more friendly and affectionate and tend to sleep more. She will eventually start to gain weight but this doesn't begin until you get closer to the fifth week of pregnancy and then her nipples will become larger as they start to fill with milk.

The care of your pregnant cat is extremely important, this will help her through the pregnancy process and make sure your kittens are born healthy. You will want to take her into the vet for a check up or two, make sure she doesn't have fleas or any other issues that need to be addressed. Making her as comfortable as possible is key to a successful pregnancy.

Some people say that Persian cats originated from Ancient Persia which is Iran today, some say Russia but really the actual origin is unknown. The Persian cat breed became official in the year 1887 in Great Britain. One known fact is that the Persian Cat breed is the oldest breed around.

Persian cats were a rare breed then and highly admired by royalty. This cat breed arrived in America in the 1980's and became very popular. To this day, there are about 150 variations of Persians which is a result of all the cat breeders. Today's Persian cats have changed a bit from the Persians in the older days. They are now considered one of the most popular breeds today.

What Not to Feed Your Cats

It's important that everyone knows what to feed their cat(s) but it's even more important to know what not to feed them. Here is a list of a few things that can be poisonous or harmful to your little fuzzy friends...

*Onions & Garlic - the substances that are in both of these can cause Anemia in your cat
*Green Tomatoes & Raw Potatoes - these can cause lower gastrointestinal problems
*Milk - if your cat is lactose intolerant which many are, it can cause stomach problems. Cats do not need milk.
*Chocolate - just like dogs this is very toxic for cats as well. They can get chocolate toxicity which has many severe side effects.

These are just a few types of food that come to mind to keep your cat healthy. You really shouldn't be feeding your cat human food as it is. There are so many foods to fit different needs for every cat that are nutritious and won't harm them.

Your cats oral health is just as important as anything else so introducing the toothbrush to them at a young age may be beneficial to the both of you.
